Who was Agnès Tsao Kou Ying?
A Chinese widow and catechist from Guangxi, she was teaching the faith to women and children when persecution struck the region. Arrested with the missionaries she assisted, she refused to apostatize and was locked in a cage exposed in public, where she died after several days. Her answers to the judges, reported by witnesses, speak of firmness without hatred.
