Who was Amy Carmichael?
An Irishwoman who reached South India in 1895, she stayed fifty-five years without ever returning to Europe. At Dohnavur she took in hundreds of children destined for ritual temple prostitution and became their mother. A fall left her nearly bedridden for the last twenty years of her life; from her room she wrote dozens of books and thousands of letters.
