Antoine de Padoue
1195-1231 13th century Feast day: June 13
Letting deeds preach before words, seeking what was lost.
Who was Antoine de Padoue?
A Portuguese canon turned Franciscan, a tireless preacher in Italy and southern France, a Doctor of the Church. His plain, direct word brought hearts back; even then people prayed to him to find what was lost.
In their own words
The saints are like the stars, which Christ in his providence keeps hidden, that they may not shine before their time.
The word is alive when deeds speak; let words fall silent and let actions speak.
Attribute to God the good you have, and acknowledge that the fault comes from you.
