Who was Christophe Munzihirwa?
A Congolese Jesuit, archbishop of Bukavu at the time of the Rwandan genocide and the flood of refugees, he never stopped calling for peace and denouncing the violence of every side, refusing to flee when the city fell. He was assassinated on 29 October 1996 while attempting one last mediation. His wartime messages were collected by his Jesuit brothers.
