Who was Crispine de Thagore?
A woman of a well-off family in Numidia, mother of several children, arrested during Diocletian's persecution. The record of her questioning at Theveste by the proconsul Anullinus has come down to us almost as it was taken: her head was shaved to shame her, she was told again and again that the law required her to sacrifice for the emperors' health, and each time she gave the same answer. She was beheaded on 5 December 304.
