Élisabeth de la Trinité

1880-1906 19th century Feast day: November 8

The prayer of the interior: to seek God not far off but in the depths of oneself, and to abide there.

Who was Élisabeth de la Trinité?

A gifted pianist of lively temperament, she entered the Carmel of Dijon, where she discovered the presence of God in the depths of the soul. Taken at twenty-six by a painful illness, she left letters and retreats on the indwelling of the Trinity within us.

In their own words

I have found my heaven on earth, since heaven is God, and God is in my soul.

Letter 122

O my God, Trinity whom I adore, help me to forget myself entirely so as to establish myself in you.

Prayer to the Trinity (21 November 1904)

It seems to me that in heaven my mission will be to draw souls to interior recollection.
