Who was Émilie Gamelin?

A woman of Montreal, she lost her husband and three children within a few years. From that grief grew a service to the most destitute: the aged, the sick, prisoners, the mentally ill. At her bishop's request she founded the Sisters of Providence, who spread through Canada and beyond.
