Who was John Sung?
Son of a Chinese Methodist pastor and holder of a chemistry doctorate from the United States, he underwent a shattering conversion and reportedly threw his diplomas into the sea on the voyage home. An itinerant preacher of frail health, he crossed China and Southeast Asia, calling for repentance and founding evangelistic teams. He has been called the father of the revival of the twentieth-century Chinese Church.
