Who was Marie-Alphonsine Ghattas?
A nun born in Jerusalem, first among the Sisters of Saint Joseph, she stood at the origin of the first religious congregation to spring from the Palestinian people, the Rosary Sisters. Unobtrusive, she taught catechism to village girls and trained schoolteachers. She kept notebooks, sealed until her death, in which she had recorded her inner life.

I resolved, out of love for Mary, to obey her voice and to devote my life in the Congregation of the Rosary, placing my trust in the help of my Mother.
I am ready to bear all the labor this mission requires.
