Who was Nicolas Cabasilas?
A Byzantine of Thessalonica, a lawyer and adviser at court, he remained a layman all his life. Against the idea that real spiritual life was reserved to monks, he wrote The Life in Christ for people who work, govern and raise children. The Orthodox Church numbered him among the saints in 1983.
