Who was Thérèse Couderc?
A peasant woman from the Ardèche who founded the Sisters of the Cenacle, she was pushed out of the governance of her own congregation and lived decades of self-effacement, assigned to humble tasks. It was in that obscurity that she wrote the pages on the goodness of God and on the act of surrendering oneself that made her a spiritual master. She was canonized in 1970.

To surrender oneself is more than to devote oneself, more than to give oneself, it is even more than to abandon oneself to God. To surrender oneself is to die to everything and to oneself.
I saw written as in letters of gold the word Goodness, which I never tired of reading; every creature spoke to me again of the goodness of God.
