Who was Augustin d’Hippone?
Bishop of Hippo, former rhetorician and libertine, converted at 32 after a long search. Author of the Confessions, the first spiritual autobiography of the West. His thought on grace, time, and memory shaped all of Latin Christianity. He wrote in the upheaval of the late Roman Empire, at a time when the world seemed to be collapsing around him.
