Head of the pages at the court of King Mwanga of Buganda and newly baptized, he protected the youngest servants from the king's demands. When the king ordered the death of the Christians of his court, he himself baptized the catechumens on their march to execution. He was burned alive at Namugongo on June 3, 1886, at the head of some twenty companions.
