Chiara Luce Badano
1971-1990 20th century Feast day: October 29
The trusting yes to God in suffering, and the heart that still loves when all is taken away.
Who was Chiara Luce Badano?
An Italian teenager full of life, athletic and cheerful, active in the Focolare, she learned at seventeen that she had an incurable bone cancer. She went through the illness without folding in on herself, refusing morphine to stay lucid and attentive to others. She died at eighteen, having asked that no one weep, and was declared blessed.
In their own words
If you want it, Jesus, I want it too.
I have nothing left, but I still have my heart, and with it I can always love.
