Who was Irmã Dulce?
A Brazilian sister from Salvador de Bahia, she began by nursing the sick poor in a henhouse lent by her convent. From that shed grew one of Brazil's largest networks of social works: a hospital, schools, shelter for the homeless. Small, asthmatic, tireless, the woman known as the good angel of Bahia was canonized in 2019.
