Who was José Gabriel Brochero?
A priest of the Córdoba sierras in Argentina, he crossed a vast mountain territory on muleback to reach isolated families. He opened roads, schools and a house of spiritual retreats, sharing the hard life of the gauchos. Struck with leprosy from tending the sick, he ended his life blind, without losing any of his joy.

If God wills it, not even the devil will give me leprosy. The foul leprosy is the one within, and that one does not spread: it is washed away by charity.
