Catherine Labouré
1806-1876 19th century Feast day: November 28
Staying hidden to leave all the room to God, faithfulness in obscure tasks.
Who was Catherine Labouré?
The daughter of Burgundian peasants, a Daughter of Charity in Paris. In 1830 she received the visions that would give rise to the 'Miraculous Medal.' All her life she kept the secret and served the elderly of the Enghien hospice, humble and hidden, known to no one as the visionary.
In their own words
I am only an instrument; it is not the instrument one looks at, but the hand that uses it.
When I go to the chapel, I place myself at the feet of the Virgin and tell her everything.
