Who was Solanus Casey?
The son of Irish immigrants in Wisconsin, a former elevator operator and prison guard, he was ordained a Capuchin but, judged weak in studies, was forbidden to preach or hear confessions. A simple friary porter in Detroit, for decades he welcomed the queues of the poor and the sick, praying and listening, and people came from everywhere to his door.
